I am, Anthony Mayer, a Private Chef, outgoing and enjoy the pleasure my food gives to people. My kitchen is my sanctuary, its where I can be most creative. I enjoy the challenges of new style cuisines.  Interacting with guests brings out the performer in me. It gives me great joy to show how food is prepared and the various ways it can be presented. “Affriander” is a french word from my Mauritian French heritage meaning’ to improve taste; to make delicious’. This is a skill that I  take to heart and continue to learn on my journeys.

I have a very South African style with an International influence because of my love of Culinary travels.

Mediterranean : Italy, France , Spain, Portugal

North Africa: Morocco, Egypt and the Middle East

Far East: Thailand and Malaysia

Islands: Seychelles & Zanzibar

The experiences of eating fresh Pasta & White Truffles in Florence  to the markets of Valencia, eating Curried Crab in Patong, to the secrets of Creole in the Seychelles have influenced me as a self taught Chef.

Culture and food during my visits has inspired my style of cuisine , respect for culture & the environment. I enjoy catering for large groups but love the intimacy of the smaller families as a Private Chef in Cape Town

From a delicious healthy breakfast to sunset canapes and serving a plated or family style dinner at the end of a busy day is prepared with passion & style.

I owned my own Moroccan Restaurant in Durban, which was 4 years running top 800 in the Eat Out Magazine. I have also appeared on a cooking segment,  “Africa Within” TV Show, where I showcased my restaurant. Spent 4 years cooking in the Seychelles,  Cooking for International Celebrities &  visiting Foreign Families in Villas and Private Homes in Cape Town as a Private Chef.
